Regular Season Round 25: JX Sunflowers - Fujitsu RW 66-61

An interesting game for JX Sunflowers (22-3) which hosted in Kashiwa 4th placed Fujitsu RW (15-10). First ranked JX Sunflowers managed to get a 5-point victory 66-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fujitsu RW. It looked good early as Fujitsu RW took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JX Sunflowers took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. They made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Fujitsu RW only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Fujitsu RW 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (184-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Hiromi Suwa (183-85) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). At the losing side power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and swingman Tika Yamamoto (175-91) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. JX Sunflowers have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-3 record. Fujitsu RW at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. JX Sunflowers will again play against Fujitsu RW (#4) in Kawasaki in the next round. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round.
