Date: January 28, 2012
Important game to mention about took place in Toronto. Fifth ranked Queen's (8-8) saved a 3-point derby victory on the road edging 4th placed Ryerson (8-9) 75-72 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ryerson. It looked good early as Ryerson took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Queen's had a 24-9 second period charge getting the lead and Ryerson was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-75. It was a great shooting night for Queen's especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 73.3 percentage. Guard Liz Boag (160) nailed 17 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winning side and forward Christine Wallace (183-89) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Kelsey Wright (170) came up with 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Ashley Macdonald (160) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Ryerson in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Queen's moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Winnipeg. Ryerson at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
