Everything went according to plan in Sant'Arcangelo where fourth ranked Matera (10-11) won against 6th ranked Santarcangelo (5-16) 76-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Santarcangelo was better in third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was naturalized Argentinian guard Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) who scored 22 points. Power forward Cristiano Grappasonni (204-72) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Matera's coach Francesco Ponticiello used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Giorgio Broglia (198-86) who recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Eugenio Rivali (178-86) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Santarcangelo players scored in double figures. Matera have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Santarcangelo keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Matera will face Firenze (#4) at home in the next round. Santarcangelo will play against Bari.
