Regular Season Round 24: AZS Koszalin - Anwil 79-80 OT

Eighth-ranked AZS Koszalin (10-12) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Anwil (15-7) on Sunday. The visitors from Wloclawek managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AZS Koszalin. AZS Koszalin was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-15 charge of Anwil, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 5-4. It was a good game for American power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Krzysztof Szubarga (182-84) contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Anwil players scored in double figures. American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Canadian forward Greg Surmacz (203-86, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for AZS Koszalin. Anwil moved-up to third place, which they share with Energa Czarni. AZS Koszalin at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Anwil will face Siarka Jezioro (#9) in Tarnobrzeg in the next round where they are favorite. AZS Koszalin will play on the road against the league's leader Trefl Sopot.
