Regular Season Round 5: Al Sadd - Al Arabi 99-90

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: As Sadd (#3) and Al Arabi (#2). As Sadd (4-1) won against visiting Al Arabi (3-2) 99-90. It was a key game for the second position in the league. As Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Arabi's 34 and made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. As Sadd players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Al Arabi's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The former international guard Daoud Mousa (193-82) nailed 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international swingman Abdulrahman Saad (192-85) accounted for 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four As Sadd players scored in double figures. As Sadd's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Sierra Leonean guard Abdulai Jalloh (188-86, college: JMU) came up with 40 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American-Nigerian forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Dream Team Management) added 17 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Al Arabi in the defeat. As Sadd have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Al Arabi at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Al Gharrafah and Al Jaysh. As Sadd's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
