Regular Season Round 27: Shanghai S. - Fujian QB 94-90

Another upset was a game between Fujian SBS XunXin (14-12) and Shanghai Sharks (14-11), which took place in Shanghai. 6th ranked Fujian SBS XunXin lost to ninth ranked Shanghai Sharks in a road game 90-94 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fujian SBS XunXin. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fujian SBS XunXin won third quarter 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Fujian SBS XunXin outrebounded Shanghai Sharks 54-38 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds. International point guard Wei Liu (190-80) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Anthony Roberson (188-83, college: Florida) answered with 39 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) added 17 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Fujian SBS XunXin. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Liaoning H. Loser Fujian SBS XunXin dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Shanghai Sharks will face Xinjiang Flying Tige (#10) in Urumqi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fujian SBS XunXin will play on the road against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou.
