Regular Season Round 16: Nassjo - Malbas 80-59

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Malbas (15-1) on the court of second ranked Nassjo on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Nassjo 80-59. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Malbas. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South. They outrebounded Malbas 49-26 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nassjo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Malbas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Mathias Liljeqvist (196-92) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and naturalized Serbian power forward Srdjan Damjanovic (204-79) who added 3 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and guard Jacob Magnusson (185-94) scored 17 points. Malbas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Nassjo (14-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position in South behind leader Eagles. Malbas at the other side still keep top place with one game lost. Nassjo are looking forward to face Hoganas (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Malbas will play against Brahe Basket in Huskvarna and are hoping to win this game.
