Regular Season Round 5: Qatar - Al Wakrah 74-80

The most interesting game of round 5 was a home defeat of bottom-ranked Qatar Sports Club (0-5) to seventh ranked Al Wakrah (1-4) 80-74. Strangely Qatar Sports Club outrebounded Al Wakrah 46-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. Senegalese guard Sobilhaj Abdu (197) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and international center Mame Souleye (206-87) chipped in 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Nigerian forward Michael Okoro (206-89, agency: Court Side) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds and Senegalese Oumar Seck produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Al Wakrah left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Al Ahli. It was Qatar Sports Club's fifth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Al Wakrah is looking forward to face higher ranked Al Gharrafah (#5) in Doha in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Qatar Sports Club's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
