Important game to mention about took place in Trieste. Second ranked Trieste (14-7) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Recanati (11-10) 63-60 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as Recanati took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Trieste had a 14-8 second period charge getting the lead and Recanati was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-63. Trieste forced 19 Recanati turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Luca Gandini (205-85) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 16 rebounds. Innocenzo Ferraro (200-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Trieste players scored in double figures. Trieste's coach Eugenio Dalmasson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Marco Ceron (195-92) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Attilio Pierini (201-81) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Recanati. Trieste maintains second place with 14-7 record behind leader Omegna, which they share with Torino. Recanati at the other side still keeps top position with ten games lost. They share it with Chieti. Trieste will play against Fabriano (#5) in the next round. Recanati will play against Perugia (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
