Regular Season Round 21: Firenze - Fabriano 69-54

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Fabriano (7-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Firenze (7-14) 69-54 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Firenze. Fabriano was better in fourth quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Firenze shot 22 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Fabriano only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Fabriano 40-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Fabriano was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was swingman Alessandro Amici (200-91) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Andrea Capitanelli (203-86) chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds. Firenze's coach Riccardo Paolini used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Argentinian point guard Nicolas Manuel Stanic (177-84, agency: Players Group) who recorded 15 points and 5 assists and power forward Luca Usberti (201-73) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Firenze moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Fabriano. Firenze will face Matera (#4) on the road in the next round. Fabriano will play against the league's second-placed Trieste and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
