The game in Faenza was also quite interesting. Second ranked Familia Schio (11-3) played at the court of 6th ranked CA Faenza (7-7). Familia Schio managed to secure a 6-point victory 48-42 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CA Faenza. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-9. But CA Faenza won second period 10-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Familia Schio dominated on the defensive end, holding CA Faenza to just 5 points in third quarter. They also forced 20 CA Faenza turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. American power forward Cheryl Ford (191-81, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import center Janel McCarville (188-82, college: Minnesota) supported her with 10 points. Even 12 points and 5 rebounds by Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) did not help to save the game for CA Faenza. Serbian guard Marija Eric (164-83) added 9 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Familia Schio maintains second position with 11-3 record behind leader Taranto. CA Faenza at the other side dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Familia Schio will meet at home bottom-ranked Alcamo (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CA Faenza will play against Comense (#3) in Como and hope to secure a win.
