A very interesting game took place in Aracatuba. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Santo Andre (7-4) to eighth ranked Basquete Clube (2-8) 73-71 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santo Andre. It looked good early as Santo Andre took an 26-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Basquete Clube took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. Center Fernanda Bibiano (193-85) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Gilmara Amaral (175-79) supported her with 16 points. Basquete Clube's coach Giovana Polizel allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists by the former international center Ega Garvao (185-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Santo Andre. Guard Katia Cavallaro (168-83) added 13 points and 6 assists. Five Basquete Clube and four Santo Andre players scored in double figures. Basquete Clube maintains eighth position with 2-8 record. Defending champion Santo Andre keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Basquete Clube's next round opponent will be higher ranked Poty/Acucar (#3) in Caranduva and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Santo Andre will play at home against Sao Caetano.
