Regular Season Round 6: Al Arabi - Qatar 93-77

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#3) and Qatar Sports Club (#8). Al Arabi (4-2) smashed visiting Qatar Sports Club (0-6) by 16 points 93-77. Al Arabi made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game, while Qatar Sports Club only scored seven points from the stripe. 25 personal fouls committed by Qatar Sports Club helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Sierra Leonean guard Abdulai Jalloh (188-86, college: JMU) had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and Senegalese Oumar Seck produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Arabi maintains third position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Al Rayyan, which they share with Al Gharrafah. Qatar Sports Club at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharrafah.
