Regular Season Round 28: Xinjiang FT - Shanghai S. 89-84

There was a small surprise in Urumqi where tenth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (13-12) beat 7th ranked Shanghai Sharks (14-12) 89-84 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shanghai Sharks won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Shanghai Sharks 51-38 including 21 on the offensive glass. Shanghai Sharks were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) who added 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Shanghai Sharks' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Xinjiang Flying Tige maintains tenth position with 13-12 record. Shanghai Sharks at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#4) in Hangzhou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
