Regular Season Round 28: DongGuan L. - Jilin NE T. 120-98

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Jilin Tigers (11-15) were rolled over on the road by third ranked DongGuan Leopards (17-10) 120-98 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by DongGuan Leopards. Jilin Tigers was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. DongGuan Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Jilin Tigers' 40. DongGuan Leopards forced 20 Jilin Tigers turnovers. Jilin Tigers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording 32 points (made all of his seven free throws) and American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) who added 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Jordanian guard Osama Daghles (198-79, college: Midwestern St.) scored 21 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. DongGuan Leopards maintains third position with 17-10 record having six points less than leader Guandong ST. Jilin Tigers at the other side keep the twelfth place with 15 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face Liaoning Hunters (#8) in Yingkou in the next round where they are favorite. Jilin Tigers will play at home against Fujian SBS XunXin (#5) in Jinjiang.
