Regular Season Round 15: Impuls BGUIR - Rubon 81-69

The game between third ranked Rubon (8-7) and fourth ranked BGUIR-RTI (6-9) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Rubon was defeated by BGUIR-RTI in Minsk 81-69. The game was mostly controlled by BGUIR-RTI. Rubon managed to win third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BGUIR-RTI forced 21 Rubon turnovers and outrebounded them 45-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Genniadiy Zakhar (198-92) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Evgeniy Sugoniako (198-92) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Dmitri Akulich (192-86) who recorded 18 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and power forward Pavel Karasevich (201-89) added 10 points respectively. BGUIR-RTI maintains fourth place with 6-9 record. Rubon at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. BGUIR-RTI are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Sozh Gomel (#7) at home in the next round. Rubon will play against Minsk-2006 II (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
