Rather expected game when 4th placed Rouge et Or (3-7) was smashed by first ranked Stingers (9-1) in Montreal, QC 80-59 on Friday. The game without a history. Stingers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Stingers forced 21 Rouge et Or turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. Rouge et Or was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international point guard Kyle Desmarais (188-87, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 assists. Forward Evens Laroche (193) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Stingers players scored in double figures. Coach John Dore's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Etienne Labrecque (196-86, college: Quinnipiac) answered with 15 points and naturalized Bosnian forward Boris Hadzimuratovic (204-91, college: High School) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Rouge et Or. Stingers maintains first place with 9-1 record. Rouge et Or lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Stingers will face Citadines (#3) in Montreal, QC in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rouge et Or will play on the road against the league's second-placed Redmen in Montreal, QC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
