Regular Season Round 25: Manitoba - Calgary 89-98
Date: February 3, 2012
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Bisons (8-10) lost to ninth ranked Dinos (8-10) in Winnipeg, MB 89-98 on Friday. Bisons trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 27-21 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 89-98 at the end of the game. Dinos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Bisons' 32 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Bisons were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Tyler Fidler (206-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized Bosnian forward Boris Bakovic (201-88, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Stephan Walton (175-87, college: Valdosta St.) answered with 25 points and guard Kevin Oliver (198) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Bisons. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bisons' coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Dinos. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Manitoba. Bisons lost their sixth game in a row. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
