Regular Season Round 25: Lakehead - Waterloo 84-74

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Thunderwolves as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Thunderwolves defeated 8th ranked Warriors in Thunder Bay, ON 84-74. The game was mostly controlled by Thunderwolves. Warriors managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thunderwolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Adam Johnson (, college: Georgetown, KY) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Greg Carter (178-90) contributed with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Andrew Melbourne (188-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Zach Angelini (188-92) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Warriors. Four Warriors players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thunderwolves (15-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Laurier. Warriors lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Winnipeg. Warriors will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Thunderwolves will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Warriors in Waterloo, ON.
