Not a big story in a game in Changchun where 12th ranked Jilin Tigers (11-16) were defeated by fifth ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (16-12) 109-96 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Fujian SBS XunXin. Jilin Tigers managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fujian SBS XunXin made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Fujian SBS XunXin outrebounded Jilin Tigers 52-35 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Jilin Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Roberson (188-83, college: Florida) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jordanian guard Osama Daghles (198-79, college: Midwestern St.) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) added 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fujian SBS XunXin moved-up to fourth place. Jilin Tigers lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Fujian SBS XunXin are looking forward to face Liaoning Hunters (#9) in Yingkou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
