Regular Season Round 20: Northland - Eos 75-43
Date: February 3, 2012
Damligan top team - Northland (17-3) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed ninth ranked IK Eos (6-13) in Lulea 75-43. The game without a history. Northland led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding IK Eos to just 2 points in second quarter. Northland held IK Eos to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Northland forced 24 IK Eos turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Northland made 9 blocks. The winners were led by Brazilian swingman Silvia Santos Luz (173-75, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored that evening 23 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Josefin Vesterberg (187-93) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Northland players scored in double figures. Even 8 points and 9 rebounds by the former international forward Helen Findley (185-89) did not help to save the game for IK Eos. Swingman Kajsa Lundahl (182-91, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 10 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Northland went down to second position due to points difference. Loser IK Eos dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 08. Northland will meet at home bottom-ranked Jarfalla (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. IK Eos will play against Mark Basket (#3) in Kinna and hope to secure a win.
