There was a minor upset in Blaine where 7th ranked Trinity Western (9-7) was defeated by tenth ranked Thompson Rivers (6-9) 66-61 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Trinity Western won fourth quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thompson Rivers had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Jorri Duxbury (170) who scored 18 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Kaitlyn Widsten (170-89) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Thompson Rivers players scored in double figures. Center Tiffany Olsen (188-88) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Laurelle Weigl (193-88, college: Simon Fraser) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Trinity Western's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Thompson Rivers maintains tenth place with 6-9 record. Loser Trinity Western keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Thompson Rivers will have a break next round.
