Regular Season Round 23: Concordia - Laval 52-56

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Concordia (6-4) against fourth ranked Laval (4-6) on Friday night. Host Concordia was defeated by Laval in a tough game in Montreal 52-56. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 21-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Laval dominated on the defensive end, holding Concordia to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. They held Concordia to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Strangely Concordia outrebounded Laval 50-36 including a 27-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Marie-Pascale Nadeau (188-89) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Elyse Jobin (180-90) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Laval's coach Linda Marquis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Kaylah Barrett (173) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Alex Boudreau (170) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Laval maintains fourth place with 4-6 record. Concordia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with four games lost. Laval will face league's leader McGill in Montreal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
