Regular Season Round 12: STU Tbilisi - Samedicino 73-87

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between STU (5-6) and Samedicino-Academia (4-7), which took place in Tbilisi. 6th ranked STU lost at home to ninth ranked Samedicino-Academia 73-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of STU. It looked good early as STU took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Samedicino-Academia had a 27-10 second period charge getting the lead and STU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-87. They outrebounded STU 49-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Serbian power forward Nemanja Ilic (206-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Five Samedicino-Academia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) who recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard George Khaniashvili (194-89) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. STU's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Samedicino-Academia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with TSU Tbilisi. Newly promoted STU keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Samedicino-Academia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
