Date: February 4, 2012
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#3) and TSU (#8). Olimpi (9-2) smashed visiting TSU (4-7) by 23 points 103-80. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. TSU managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded TSU 51-38 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpi looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by TSU's players. 27 personal fouls committed by TSU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Montenegrin power forward Ivan Todorovic (214-84, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Czech center Ivo Hoger (225-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. Guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 assists and forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for TSU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpi moved-up to second place. TSU lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Samedicino. Olimpi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TSU will play at home against Batumi (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
