Regular Season Round 14: Toyota Alvark - Aishin SH 54-60

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Toyota Alvark (20-8) in Fuchu on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Aishin Sea Horses (21-7) 60-54. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 20-7 record before this meeting. Toyota Alvark was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Anthony Richardson (201-83, college: Florida St., agency: TSS Management) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) produced 8 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Toyota Alvark at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. Aishin Sea Horses are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Toyota Alvark will play on the road against Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
