Regular Season Round 21: SKK Siedlce - Start Gdynia 76-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Start Gdynia (14-6) against fifth ranked SKK Siedlce (12-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Start Gdynia was defeated by SKK Siedlce in a tough game in Siedlce 71-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Start Gdynia. It looked good early as Start Gdynia took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then SKK Siedlce took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. They made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. SKK Siedlce forced 24 Start Gdynia turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Power forward Pawel Kowalczuk (207-80, college: St.Francis, NY) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Lukasz Ratajczak (204-86) chipped in 13 points. Five SKK Siedlce players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Mateusz Kostrzewski (201-89) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Tomasz Wojdyla (201-77) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. SKK Siedlce moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spojnia. Start Gdynia at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. SKK Siedlce will play against Olimp MKS Start Lublin (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Start Gdynia will play against Sportino (#13) in Inowroclaw and hopes to get back on the winning track.
