Not a big story in a game in Salamanca where 11th ranked Hondarribia-Irun (4-13) was defeated by second ranked Perfumerias Avenida (15-2) 71-61. The game was mostly controlled by Perfumerias Avenida. Hondarribia-Irun was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perfumerias Avenida forced 21 Hondarribia-Irun turnovers and outrebounded them 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Isabel Sanchez (180-76, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed 15 points for the winning side and American guard DeWanna Bonner (193-87, college: Auburn, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Perfumerias Avenida's coach Lucas Mondelo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Brazilian center Franciele Nascimento (191-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and guard Laura Garcia (175-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 12 points respectively for Hondarribia-Irun in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Perfumerias Avenida. They maintain second place with 15-2 record having just -10 point less than leader Ros Casares. Hondarribia-Irun at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Real C.Vigo. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Rivas Ecopolis (#4) at home in the next round. Hondarribia-Irun will play against Navarra Pamplona (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
