Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Lavrio and 8th ranked Nea Kifisia had identical 9-7 record. This time Lavrio used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Athens 83-79 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Nea Kifisia won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lavrio made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Giannis Kakiouzis (205-78) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Cypriot guard Vassilis Kounas (195-84) contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Savas Nikitakis (184-76) answered with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and power forward Christos Petrodimopoulos (209-80, agency: FCM) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Nea Kifisia. Five Lavrio and four Nea Kifisia players scored in double figures. Lavrio (10-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with AEK and Arkadikos. Newly promoted Nea Kifisia dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Lavrio will face Arkadikos (#4) in Arkadia in the next round. Nea Kifisia will play at home against Doxa Lefkadas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
