The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Panelefsiniakos (13-4) in Perikos on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifteenth ranked Periko/Arhelaos (6-11) 62-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panelefsiniakos. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Forward Giannis Foutsitzis (198-79, college: S.New Hampshire) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Thodoris Panaras (195-77) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Periko/Arhelaos players scored in double figures. Guard Giannis Kyriakopoulos (185-83) answered with 16 points and guard Spyros Magounis (200-85, agency: FCM) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Panelefsiniakos. Panelefsiniakos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Periko/Arhelaos moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Pagrati. Panelefsiniakos at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras. Periko/Arhelaos is looking forward to face higher ranked Ikaroi Serron (#3) in Serres in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against AEK in Athens and is hoping to win this game.
