There was no surprise in Caranduva where 8th ranked Basquete Clube (2-9) was defeated by third ranked Poty/Acucar (8-3) 78-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Poty/Acucar. Basquete Clube was better in third quarter 11-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Poty/Acucar looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Natalia Mares Burian (170-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. The former international guard Vanessa Gattei (170-80) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Center Fernanda Bibiano (193-85) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Fernanda Santana (180-84) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Basquete Clube's coach Giovana Polizel rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Poty/Acucar moved-up to second place, which they share with Sao Jose. Basquete Clube at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Poty/Acucar will face Ourinhos (#4) on the road in the next round. Basquete Clube will play against Sao Caetano (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
