Regular Season Round 15: Coruna - FCB Regal II 66-61

The game between third ranked Barca Regal II (8-6) and sixth ranked Leyma Basquet (9-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Barca Regal II was defeated by Leyma Basquet in a tough game in Coruna 61-66. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 14-7. But Barca Regal II won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leyma Basquet dominated on the defensive end, holding Barca Regal II to just 7 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Barca Regal II's 24. It was a good game for naturalized Venezuelan power forward Javier Roman (207-80) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Kim Adams (203-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Strategic Sports) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. point guard Joan Creus (185-92) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (196-93) added 13 points in the effort for Barca Regal II. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leyma Basquet moved-up to second place, which they share with Ourense and Aurteneche M. Barca Regal II at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Las Rozas. Leyma Basquet is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tenerife (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Barca Regal II will play against Fontedoso Carrefour (#7) in Avila and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
