The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Ottawa (15-3) on the court of second ranked Carleton on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Carleton in overtime 71-63. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Ottawa. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Ottawa won second period 13-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Ottawa used huge pressure winning it 19-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 4-12. It was a good game for guard Krista Van Slingerland (180) who led her team to a victory with 24 points. Guard Alyson Bush (170) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Hannah Sunley-Paisley (186) replied with 26 points and 6 rebounds and forward Elizabeth Lennox (185) added 11 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks in the effort for Ottawa. Ottawa's coach Andy Sparks rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Carleton (13-5) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just -2 point less than leader Regina, which they share with Calgary. Ottawa at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Carleton is looking forward to face RMC (#8) in Kingston in the next round where they are favorite. Ottawa will play on the road against Queen's (#4) in Kingston and is hoping to win this game.
