Regular Season Round 24: Western - Brock 75-69

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Western (9-9) defeated second-best Brock (12-7) in London 75-69 on Saturday. Brock trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. It was a good game for forward Katelyn Leddy (183-89) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Laura Dally (180-92) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Western players scored in double figures. Forward Nicole Rosenkranz (185) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and guard Sarah Mallen (173) added 18 points in the effort for Brock. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Western moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Brock dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Western will face McMaster (#4) in Hamilton in the next round. Brock will play at home against Lakehead in Thunder Bay.
