Regular Season Round 34: Okinawa GK - Takamatsu FA 100-60

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Takamatsu FA (2-28) was crushed on the road by first ranked Okinawa GK (24-6) 100-60 on Sunday. The game without a history. Okinawa GK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Takamatsu FA's 34. They outrebounded Takamatsu FA 57-31 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Okinawa GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Takamatsu FA's players. Americans were the main players on the court. Center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Okinawa GK's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and forward Kevin Smith (195-89, college: Richmond) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Okinawa GK have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-6 record. Takamatsu FA lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 28 games lost. Okinawa GK will face league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
