There was no surprise when 15th ranked Bayi Fubang (9-18) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Shanghai Sharks (15-13) 89-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. Bayi Fubang was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Fubang's 44. They outrebounded Bayi Fubang 51-39 including 16 on the offensive glass. Bayi Fubang was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. International center ZhaoXu Zhang (221-87, college: California) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center ZhiZhi Wang (214-77) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center ZhongHao Xu (212-90) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Guangsha L. Loser Bayi Fubang keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Shanghai Sharks will face higher ranked Zhejiang Cyclones (#6) in Hangzhou in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bayi Fubang will play on the road against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#9) in Hangzhou.
