Regular Season Round 7: Al Gharafa - Al Arabi 90-78

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharrafah (#4) and Al Arabi (#3). Al Gharrafah (5-2) won against visiting Al Arabi (4-3) 90-78. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Gharrafah forced 25 Al Arabi turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Al Arabi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Boney Watson (183, college: Sam Houston St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. International swingman Ousseynou N'Diaye (196-85, agency: Court Side) helped adding 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. At the losing side American-Sierra Leonean guard Abdulai Jalloh (188-86, college: JMU) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Nigerian forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Dream Team Management) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Al Gharrafah moved-up to second place, which they share with As Sadd. Al Arabi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Jaysh. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
