Regular Season Round 30: Xinjiang FT - Jilin NE T. 99-97

Twelfth-ranked Jilin Tigers (11-17) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (15-12) in Urumqi. Xinjiang Flying Tige managed to secure only two-point victory 99-97. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Jilin Tigers took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Xinjiang Flying Tige had a 24-14 second period charge getting the lead and Jilin Tigers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 97-99. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) notched 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. Even 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) did not help to save the game for Jilin Tigers. Power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) added 22 points and 8 rebounds. Jilin Tigers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Xinjiang Flying Tige have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zhejiang C. Jilin Tigers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige's next round opponent will be Liaoning Hunters (#10) in Yingkou. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan.
