Regular Season Round 30: DongGuan L. - Guangdong ST 97-111

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in DongGuan. First ranked Guandong Tigers faced 3rd ranked DongGuan Leopards. Guests from Dongguan (24-4) defeated host DongGuan Leopards (18-11) 111-97. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of DongGuan Leopards. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. DongGuan Leopards was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to DongGuan Leopards' 46. They outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 53-35 including 27 on the offensive glass. DongGuan Leopards were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. International forward FangYu Zhu (201-83) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) replied with 31 points and 4 assists and American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for DongGuan Leopards. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-4 record. DongGuan Leopards at the other side keep the third place with 11 games lost. Guandong Tigers will play against Fujian SBS XunXin (#4) in Jinjiang in the next round. DongGuan Leopards will have a break next round.
