Regular Season Round 18: Villeneuve - Landes 64-63

A very interesting game took place in Villeneuve. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Basket Landes (10-8) to eleventh ranked Villeneuve D'Asco (7-11) 64-63 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basket Landes. Basket Landes was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 20-8 third quarter run of Villeneuve D'Asco. They outrebounded Basket Landes 34-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Sidney Spencer (191-85, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Anais Le Gluher (175-82) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and American center Jennifer Humphrey (191-84, college: Kentucky, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 18 points respectively. Villeneuve D'Asco moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Arras. Basket Landes at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Villeneuve D'Asco's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Nice (#14) on the road. Basket Landes will play against the league's second-placed Lattes Montpellier (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
