An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Joensuu. First ranked Joensuun Kataja faced 3rd placed Kauhajoen Karhu. Host Joensuun Kataja (23-5) defeated guests from Kauhajoki (17-11) 98-91. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-91. It was a great shooting night for Joensuun Kataja especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The former international power forward Sami Lehtoranta (205-79) fired 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja maintains first place with 23-5 record. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Joensuun Kataja is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Namika Lahti (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against LrNMKY (#7) in Lappeenranta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
