Regular Season Round 17: Ironi Ramat Gan - Ironi Nahariya 99-70
Date: February 7, 2012
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (7-10) smashed at home 9th ranked Ironi Nahariya (6-10) 99-70 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Ramat Gan. Ironi Nahariya was better in fourth quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Ramat Gan shot 63.2 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Ironi Ramat Gan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Ironi Nahariya's players. Ironi Nahariya was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Rodney Webb (200-83, college: Florida Atlantic) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Amit Tamir (208-79, college: California) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ironi Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. American swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and forward Maor Snir (198-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ironi Ramat Gan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ironi K-A. Ironi Nahariya lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Ironi Ramat Gan will face bottom-ranked Hapoel Yokneam/Megido (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ironi Nahariya will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
