Regular Season Round 31: Xinjiang FT - Liaoning H. 104-99

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (16-12) won against 10th ranked Liaoning Hunters (14-15) in Urumqi 104-99 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Liaoning Hunters won third quarter 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Xinjiang Flying Tige made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Xiaoxu Li (207-90) added 14 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Liaoning Hunters. Four Xinjiang Flying Tige and five Liaoning Hunters players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Xinjiang Flying Tige. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shanxi Zh. Liaoning Hunters lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face league's leader Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liaoning Hunters will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu (#5) in Taiyuan.
