Regular Season Round 30: Svit - Nitra 80-66

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Svit (13-14) beat at home second-best Nitra (18-9) 80-66 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-66. Strangely Nitra outrebounded Svit 48-33 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Vincent Polakovic (203-84, college: USF) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Svit players scored in double figures. Svit's coach Milan Cernicky used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and Australian forward Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Svit maintains sixth position with 13-14 record. Nitra lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
