Round 19 in D1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Quaregnon where host Dexia Mons-Hainaut (9-7) crushed league's leader Okapi Aalstar (11-6) 97-74 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Okapi Aalstar. The game without a history. Dexia Mons-Hainaut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Okapi Aalstar's 30. They outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 37-22 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dexia Mons-Hainaut shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American guard Quincy Taylor (196-82, college: UAB) fired 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Warren Carter (205-85, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Dexia Mons-Hainaut's coach Arik Shivek felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado) produced 23 points and American-Lithuanian power forward Christopher Young (206-79, college: Michigan, agency: Court Side) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Dexia Mons-Hainaut and four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. Dexia Mons-Hainaut moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Leuven. Okapi Aalstar at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. They share it with Oostende. They were replaced at the leadership position by Spirou. Okapi Aalstar will play next round against Leuven Bears trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Dexia Mons-Hainaut will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster on the road.
