Rather predictable result when second ranked Golden Bears (13-6) rolled over 6th ranked Bobcats (7-12) in Edmonton, AB 92-53 on Friday. The game without a history. Golden Bears led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Bobcats' 20. They outrebounded Bobcats 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Bobcats were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for swingman Daniel Ferguson (191, college: Valdosta St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Golden Bears players scored in double figures. Ali Mounir replied with 7 points and 9 rebounds and guard Michael Smith (188-89) added 9 points in the effort for Bobcats. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Bears have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-6 record having just -5 point less than leader Saskatchewan. Loser Bobcats keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Golden Bears will face again Bobcats (#6) in Brandon, MB in the next round.
