CIS top team - Thunderwolves (17-2) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat fifth ranked Badgers (9-10) in St.Catharines, ON 82-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Badgers won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American guard Venzal Russel (188-87, college: Vermilion CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Forward Matthew Schmidt (198-89) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Mark Gibson (198) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and forward Tshing Kasamba (196) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Badgers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Thunderwolves have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-2 record. Badgers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Badgers will play again at home against the league's leader Thunderwolves (#1) in Thunder Bay, ON.
