There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Varsity Reds (6-10) beat 5th ranked Tigers (6-9) in Fredericton, NB 77-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Varsity Reds. Tigers was better in second period 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quite impressive performance for guard Alex Desroches (193) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Daniel Quirion (183) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Ritchie Kanza Mata replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Bahamas forward Robert Nortmann (198) added 14 points in the effort for Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Varsity Reds maintains seventh position with 6-10 record. Loser Tigers keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Varsity Reds will face again higher ranked Tigers (#5) in Halifax, NS in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
