Regular Season Round 23: Caceres - Menorca 80-72

The game between second ranked Menorca Basquet (15-8) and twelfth ranked Caceres 2016 (11-12) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Menorca Basquet was defeated by Caceres 2016 in a tough game in Caceres 72-80. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Menorca Basquet. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Menorca Basquet won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caceres 2016 made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Caceres 2016 forced 19 Menorca Basquet turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Menorca Basquet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). point guard Daniel Rodriguez (180-84) contributed with 7 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and forward Marc Blanch (195-82) added 16 points in the effort for Menorca Basquet. Four Menorca Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caceres 2016 moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Palencia. Menorca Basquet at the other side dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Caceres 2016 is looking forward to face league's leader Canarias in Tenerife in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Menorca Basquet will play at home against Baloncesto Leon and is hoping to win this game.
