Regular Season Round 32: Shanxi Zh. - Liaoning H. 111-109

Rather predictable result in Taiyuan where seventh ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (17-12) edged 11th ranked Liaoning Hunters (14-16) 111-109 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Shanxi Zhongyu dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Liaoning Hunters' 64. Strangely Liaoning Hunters outrebounded Shanxi Zhongyu 51-39 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who added 27 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Center Dejun Han (215-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and forward Tian-ju He (203-90) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Four Shanxi Zhongyu and five Liaoning Hunters players scored in double figures. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to fourth place. Liaoning Hunters lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will face league's leader Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Liaoning Hunters will play on the road against Bayi Fubang (#15) in Ningbo.
